We want to assure you that your family's health and safety is of utmost importance to us.  We are therefore continuing to follow the policies we have been using since last summer.  Members of our staff are still wearing masks and we ask that parents and children 4 years and older wear masks.  We are also maintaining distancing by having only one family at at time at the front desk and in the hallway.  Please contact us if you have any questions about our procedures to keep our staff and families safe.

July 22, 2020

The Collier County Commissioners voted yesterday, 7/21/20 to make masks mandatory in public settings.  We are therefore requiring parents and children 9 and over to wear masks when entering the office.  Thanks for your cooperation and helping us keep everyone safe!

We have received many calls and messages with questions about sending your children back to school.  This unprecedented situation is challenging for many and we recognize that there is not one answer that is applicable for everyone. The first consideration is that there will be no way to completely eliminate the risk of getting COVID-19, but fairly effective ways to decrease the likelihood with masking, gogles, and social distancing.  There are certain children who have chronic conditions who should not attend (such as a child who is immunocompromised) or there's someone in the home who is "medically vulnerable" such as an elderly family member.

If all the members of the household are healthy, then the decision rests on: your level of concern on whether your child gets the virus, your concern about your child's mental heallth and social well-being, and your family's ability to have someone stay home with the child. Some children are struggling at home in terms of depression, anxiety, and getting services (such as speech therapy) that he or she needs. If you are more concerned about the mental health aspects, then you may want to consider sending your child to physical school. If you are extremely worried about your child getting the virus, then you may want to consider keeping your child at home if possible.   In many cases this is not possible, since both parents must work and therefore the child must attend school or daycare so he or she is not home alone.

In addition, we have a checklist that was developed by the Florida Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, University of Miami, and the Family Network of Disabilities.  Please feel free to review this checklist.  We hope this helps you walk through the decision process.
